Dear Colleague,

This year’s Pediatric Nursing Conference celebrates the pediatric nurse at the bedside. You are the hearts, the souls, the minds, and the voices providing care to children and families every day. You represent the fabric of our discipline today and tomorrow. To celebrate you, we are continuing our efforts to make this THE national pediatric nursing conference for the bedside nurse. Please join us for the 24th Annual Pediatric Nursing National Conference June 26-28, 2008 in Las Vegas, NV.

This year’s conference will continue using the successful format used in 2007 — to focus on the specific needs of nurses at the point of care in order to enhance nursing knowledge, skills, and evidence integral to pediatric nursing practice. The conference contains four conference tracks, including: Physical Assessment and Laboratory Interpretation, Evidence-Based Practice and Research, Leadership at the Point of Care, and Clinical Potpourri. Participants will have the opportunity for an intensive learning experience in an identified area of interest by attending all sessions in one conference track or will be able to choose from among a variety of learning opportunities by attending sessions in each of the four different conference tracks. Additionally, this year we are proud to offer 9.5 trauma hours as part of the main conference to support surgical and trauma nurses in their professional development.

Three pre-conferences – CPN Review Course: Unlocking the Door to Success; Pediatric Physical Assessment: Enhancing Your Knowledge and Skills; and Sharpening Your Leadership Skills to Lead Effectively – are offered in conjunction with the annual conference. Pre-registration and an additional fee are required for these exciting offerings.

Veronica Feeg, editor of Pediatric Nursing, will kick off our conference event through her inspirational presentation that reflects upon the essential elements of leadership in clinical practice at the point of care from the perspective of pediatric nursing practice, education, and research. She will also lead a concurrent session on getting published and will be available at the conference for guidance and feedback in the publication process.

A poster session will be held on Friday morning, June 27, featuring research and clinical posters selected from peer-reviewed abstract submissions. The poster session will afford participants the opportunity to review and discuss research findings as well as clinical and educational programming. Poster judges will be available for evaluation and formative feedback. Awards for posters sessions will be presented on Saturday morning, June 28, prior to the general session.

In the Exhibit Hall, exhibitors from around the country will display their products and information services to conference attendees. Enjoy refreshments and network with colleagues in an informal atmosphere.

Don’t miss this exciting opportunity to collaborate with your colleagues and conference faculty, share your innovative ideas, and catch the enthusiasm of nurses who are proud to call themselves pediatric nurses. I look forward to seeing you in Las Vegas!

Best Wishes,
Louise D. Jakubik, DNSc, CRNP, APRN-BC
