As no cure exists for atopic dermatitis, the goals of treatment include reducing
symptoms and prolonging periods between flares. Proper skin care can improve
skin barrier function, reducing susceptibility to triggers of flares. Topical corticosteroids
and topical calcineurin inhibitors may improve symptoms.
